Tackling the housing crisis

The latest research from the National Housing Federation shows the South West to be the most unaffordable place to buy a home in the UK. It is the only region with above average house prices, but below average incomes. Over the last five years, the explosion of housing need has led to the number of households on affordable waiting lists growing by nearly 50 per cent – affordable home building is running at less than half the level required to match this need.

Somer is one of the Homes & Communities Agency's
investment partners delivering a programme of new affordable homes across the South West.
